Nine for iPhone

Privacy policy.

Last updated September 20, 2026

Your photographs are yours. Nine creates and stores your rolls on your device. It does not upload them to us.

Who we are

Nine is an iPhone camera app made by photographer and graphic designer David Fennema. This policy covers the Nine app, this website, and messages you send us for support. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

Information in the app

Nine does not require an account and does not include advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics tools. We do not collect your photographs or sell or share personal information for advertising.

The app processes photos on your device. It keeps the images and information needed to manage your rolls, such as their names, dates, chosen look, and shooting progress, in its local app storage. Preferences are also stored on your device. Nine does not request your location or microphone.

Camera and Photos permissions

Nine uses camera access to take the pictures you choose to capture. It requests permission to add finished images to your Photos library when you save them. It does not request permission to browse your existing photo library.

You can change these permissions in iPhone Settings. Turning off camera access prevents new captures; turning off Photos access prevents saving images to Photos. You can still manage rolls already stored in Nine.

Saving, sharing, and backups

Nine’s Share action sends photographs to the app or person you choose through the system share sheet. The destination’s privacy practices then apply.

Your iPhone settings may allow Apple to include Nine’s local data in a device backup, or sync exported images through iCloud Photos. These services are controlled by your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy practices; they are not uploads to a Nine service.

Keeping and deleting your data

Nine keeps saved rolls so you can return to them. Once a roll is developed and safely saved, the app removes its original exposure frames and retains the finished photographs, contact sheet, and roll information.

You can delete rolls in Nine. Deleting the app removes its local app data from that device. Copies already saved to Photos, shared elsewhere, or included in backups are separate; manage or delete those through the relevant app or service. We cannot access or remotely delete the rolls on your device.

Support and diagnostic information

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information or attachments you choose to include. We use this information to reply, troubleshoot, and resolve your request. Our email provider processes these messages to deliver and store them. We keep support correspondence only as long as needed for those purposes, and you can email us to request its deletion.

Apple may make crash reports and technical diagnostics available to us under its diagnostic-sharing settings and terms. TestFlight also provides beta-testing information and feedback through Apple. We use that information to understand and fix problems; Nine does not include a separate analytics or crash-reporting service.

This website

This website has no advertising trackers, analytics scripts, account sign-up, or contact form. Its hosting provider may process technical request information, such as an IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the site.

Links to Instagram and other external services take you to services with their own privacy policies. We do not embed an Instagram feed on this site.

Changes and questions

If Nine’s privacy practices change, we will update this page and its date.
